Bihar Saras Mela Inaugurated at Gandhi Maidan by Minister Shravan Kumar
Patna: The vibrant Bihar Saras Mela commenced on Friday at Gandhi Maidan in Patna, set to captivate visitors until December 29. The ceremonial inauguration was conducted by Shravan Kumar, the esteemed minister of rural development, marking the initiation of this annual cultural extravaganza. Notably, the event welcomes attendees with free entry, encouraging a broad spectrum of visitors to explore the diverse offerings.
The sprawling grounds of Gandhi Maidan are now adorned with over 500 stalls, showcasing an array of crafts, art, local cuisine, and self-made products. Entrepreneurs hailing from 38 districts, alongside Jeevika Didi representatives from 17 states, are converging to celebrate and exhibit the rich cultural tapestry of India.
At the heart of the Saras Mela, the Jeevika Didis from Bihar, representing 38 districts, will stand alongside their counterparts from Chhattisgarh, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, and Jharkhand. These enterprising women will proudly display an assortment of products, including the renowned Bhagalpuri sarees, decorative items, bamboo products, terracotta artifacts, papad, adaudi, pickles, chuda, and much more.
The event is meticulously organized, with 75 stalls dedicated to self-help groups from other states, providing a platform for women entrepreneurs to showcase their unique offerings. Additionally, 50 stalls will feature the self-employed from Bihar, complemented by 88 stalls for entrepreneurs from other states. A dedicated section of 40 stalls is reserved for the Cuisine Fair, enticing visitors with a diverse range of delectable treats. Furthermore, 40 additional stalls will host various products, enhancing the overall shopping experience.
Beyond the commercial aspect, the Bihar Saras Mela serves as an opportunity for awareness. Various departments and banks have set up informative stalls, contributing to the overall enriching experience for attendees. The event is poised to be a celebration of craftsmanship, entrepreneurship, and cultural diversity, echoing the spirit of unity across the nation.
