Bihar Skill Development Mission Courts Industry to Boost Local Employment

Patna: The Bihar Skill Development Mission (BSDM), under the Labour Resources Department, held an “Industry Meet” on Saturday at Pratibimb Auditorium, Niyojan Bhawan, to explore stronger partnerships between skill training initiatives and private industries. The event brought together representatives from leading companies such as Bata, UltraTech Cement, and Dina Iron and Steel, alongside members of the Bihar Industries Association.
The meeting was chaired by Deepak Anand, Secretary of the Labour Resources Department and CEO of BSDM, who emphasised the state government’s commitment to equipping Bihar’s youth with industry-relevant skills to enable local employment opportunities.
“Our aim is to provide employment to the energetic youth of Bihar in the state itself by training them as per the needs of the industry,” said Anand. “We urge companies to help shape training programmes that suit their demands — the cost of training will be borne by BSDM. The goal is a Skilled Youth, Prosperous Bihar, which not only secures the future of young people but also boosts the state’s economy.”
Industry participants were invited to share their hiring needs and provide input on curriculum development, with the intention of directly linking training programmes to job placements.
Rajiv Ranjan, Additional CEO of BSDM, reiterated that the success of Bihar’s skill development push hinges on industry involvement. “Our efforts to build a workforce tailored to the market can only succeed with meaningful participation from companies,” he said. “This meet marks a vital step where businesses’ feedback will shape future policies and programmes.”
The event was conducted by BSDM Director Suresh Kumar Singh, and also attended by BSDM officials including Mission Manager (IT) Atul Suman and Project Director Ratandeep Singh.
Officials described the initiative as a foundational move toward a more self-reliant Bihar, with promises of greater job creation and economic resilience through collaborative skill-building efforts.
