
Rajgir: Bihar Sports University held the inaugural meeting of its Executive Council on Friday, setting in motion a strategic vision to become a global centre of excellence in physical education and sports sciences. The meeting, chaired by Vice Chancellor Shishir Sinha was held at the university auditorium in Rajgir and included senior officials from the state’s sports and education departments.
Opening the session, Registrar and Member Secretary Rajni Kant, briefed members on the formation of the Executive Council, which was recently constituted by the Sports Department of the Bihar government. The meeting saw the participation of key officials including Nishikant Tiwari, Controller of Examinations and Dean; Ajit Kumar, representing the Director of Higher Education; Mahendra Kumar, Director (Sports); Niranjan Kumar, Joint Secretary (Sports); and Mithilesh Kumar, Assistant Director at the State Sports Academy, Rajgir.
In his address, Vice Chancellor Sinha welcomed suggestions from council members, emphasising the need for infrastructural expansion to enable the launch of residential courses and position the university as a hub for sports excellence.
During the session, the Executive Council approved the Vision and Mission Statement of the university, outlining its ambition to become a world-class institution for academic and athletic development, drawing students, researchers, and athletes from across India and beyond.
One of the key decisions was the council’s approval of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between Bihar Sports University and the State Education and Research Council, Bihar. The MoU mandates the university to offer refresher training programmes for physical education teachers and lecturers across the state, focusing on modern curriculum and pedagogical techniques.
The meeting also ratified the appointments of Chandan Kumar, Dr Ravi Kumar Singh, Roshan Kumar, and Ajit Kumar as Consultants, and Brajesh Kumar Pandey and Yash Raj as Branch Officers.
