Patna: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Bihar on July 18, marking his 53rd trip to the state since assuming office in 2014. During a public meeting in Motihari, he is expected to unveil and lay the foundation stone for development projects totalling Rs 7,196 crore across key sectors including roads, railways, electronics and rural welfare.
A significant portion—Rs 5,398 crore—will go towards railway projects, while Rs 1,173 crore is earmarked for infrastructure under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology will contribute projects worth Rs 63 crore.
In addition, Rs 162 crore will be directly transferred into the accounts of 40,000 beneficiaries under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana-Gramin (PMAY-G). About 12,000 beneficiaries will receive Griha Pravesh under the same scheme. Further, Rs 400 crore is set to be released to 61,500 self-help groups, aimed at strengthening rural livelihoods.
With state assembly elections due by November, political momentum in Bihar has picked up. The Prime Minister’s visit comes at a time of increasing activity from rival parties, including multiple visits by Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi.
PM Modi’s last visit to Bihar was on June 20, when he addressed a public meeting in Jasoli, Siwan district. He had earlier held a roadshow in Patna on May 29 and a rally in Shahabad on May 30. His upcoming trip will be his sixth to Bihar in 2025 alone.
Sources within the BJP and JD(U) indicate high-level mobilisation for the Motihari rally. Party cadres have begun mass outreach to ensure a strong turnout. Modi is expected to sharpen his attack on RJD and Congress leaders during his address, setting the tone for the NDA’s election pitch in the months ahead.
