Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary honoured 38 outstanding government teachers, one from each district, at a state-level Teacher’s Felicitation Ceremony at the Shri Krishna Memorial Hall in Patna on September 5.
The teachers were selected for their academic contributions, innovative work, commitment to students and contribution to improving education. Each awardee received a medal, certificate and honourarium from the chief minister.
The ceremony was held to mark the birth anniversary of former President and educationist Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, which is observed as Teachers’ Day in India.
One Outstanding Teacher Selected From Each District
The Bihar Education Department selected one government teacher from each of the state’s 38 districts for the Rajkiya Shikshak Puraskar 2026.
Among the awardees were Paliganj-based headteacher Aparajita Kumari from Patna district, Guddi Kumari from Gaya, Saurabh Kumar from Nalanda and Mohammad Noorul Hoda from East Champaran.
Of the 38 awardees, 17 are women teachers. Their selection highlights the contribution of women educators, particularly in expanding access to education in rural and remote areas.
‘Teachers Shape Society’, Says CM
Addressing the gathering, Choudhary described teachers as a key foundation of social and national development.
He said teachers do more than deliver the curriculum, arguing that they also influence students’ personalities, thinking and future prospects.
The chief minister said the government was working to strengthen Bihar’s education system and provide students with a better academic environment.
“Our goal is to ensure quality education for the children of Bihar,” Choudhary said.
Over 32,000 Teachers To Be Recruited Through TRE-4
The chief minister also referred to the ongoing Teacher Recruitment Examination-4 (TRE-4) process.
According to Choudhary, the recruitment process for more than 32,000 teachers has already begun through the fourth phase of teacher recruitment.
He said the appointments would increase teacher availability in government schools and contribute to a better learning environment for students.
Focus On Infrastructure, Training And Technology
Choudhary said the state government was focusing on multiple aspects of education, including infrastructure, human resources, teacher training and digital resources.
He said education must evolve with changing technology and future requirements. Along with conventional teaching, students need exposure to modern digital tools, while teachers also need to be equipped to use emerging technologies effectively.
Bihar Education Department, Google India Sign MoU
A key development at the Teachers’ Day programme was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the Bihar Education Department and Google India.
The agreement is aimed at helping government-school teachers develop skills in artificial intelligence and modern digital technologies.
Under the initiative, teachers will be introduced to digital tools and AI-enabled educational resources that can support classroom teaching and help make learning more engaging and responsive to students’ needs.
AI To Support Modern Teaching
The proposed technology-focused initiative is intended to help teachers understand and use emerging digital tools in education.
AI-based resources could potentially assist educators in areas such as preparing teaching material, adapting learning approaches and understanding students’ learning requirements.
The initiative is part of Bihar’s broader effort to combine teacher recruitment and training with technology-driven improvements in government schools.
The government has said that strengthening teachers’ capabilities, improving school infrastructure and expanding access to digital resources are among the priorities for improving the quality of education across the state.
