Patna: The Bihar State Biodiversity Board convened a consultation meeting on Monday at the Sanjay Gandhi Biological Park’s Interpretation Center. The gathering aimed to develop a comprehensive strategy and action plan for the conservation of the state’s rich biodiversity.
Officials from various departments, including Agriculture, Animal Husbandry, Horticulture, Fisheries, Water Resources, Forest and Wildlife, and Panchayati Raj, attended the meeting. They were joined by experts from Patna’s Animal Science University, the Dolphin Conservation Center, and Muzaffarpur’s Litchi Research Center, among others.
The meeting was chaired by Abhay Kumar, Director of Ecology and Environment, Bihar. Bharat Jyoti, Chairman of the Bihar State Biodiversity Board, outlined the meeting’s objectives and framework. The participants were divided into two groups to discuss and compile data on pertinent subjects, and extensive suggestions were gathered.
Following detailed discussions, subject-wise presentations were given, and five drafting teams were formed to submit brief articles on each topic within 10 days.
The resultant document, “Bihar State Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan,” will serve as a guiding framework for the conservation and promotion of biodiversity in the state.
