Bihar: Suspension of Entire Batch for Seven Days at SK Medical College Over Student Ragging Complaint Filed Online
MUZAFFARPUR – A Para-medical student from the 2023 batch at Sri Krishna Medical College complained that his seniors were harassing him. He faced ragging when entering the laboratory, affecting his ability to focus on studies. Despite continuous requests to stop ragging, he was not heard. Consequently, he suffered mental harassment.
In response, the student filed a complaint on the Anti-Ragging website. The matter was brought to the attention of the principal, Dr. Aabha Rani Sinha, who initiated an investigation. A meeting of the Anti-Ragging Committee was convened on Thursday. The committee, including Dr. Aabha Rani Sinha and Dr. Shobha, Head of the Anatomy department, along with other department heads, interviewed the accused and the affected student.
As a result, the entire batch of 2023 Para-medical students was suspended for a week unanimously. During the meeting, the victim also accused seniors of physical assault, though this allegation was not confirmed.
It was reported that a Para-medical student from the 2023 batch had complained about harassment by his seniors. Ragging incidents occurred in the laboratory, affecting his concentration on studies. Despite continuous requests to avoid ragging, his pleas were ignored, causing mental distress.
A similar incident had occurred about a month ago, where an MBBS student had complained about ragging by seniors. Subsequently, the Anti-Ragging Committee met, and approximately a hundred students were suspended from college for 15 days. An order to vacate the hostel was also issued.
The principal, Dr. Sinha, emphasized strict instructions against ragging within the college. Any violation of this rule will lead to immediate action without any compromise. The college maintains continuous vigilance at various levels to ensure prompt action upon receiving such complaints.
