Bihar Teams Announced for SGFI National Softball Championship in Maharashtra
Patna: Bihar’s boys and girls teams have been finalized for the 68th SGFI National Softball Championship (Under-17) scheduled from January 5 to 9 in Jalgaon, Maharashtra. The teams were selected through open trials held in September, as confirmed by Anandi Kumar, Sports Executive of Bihar State Sports Authority. The selectors and officials have expressed their best wishes for the teams’ success in the tournament.
The girls’ team will be led by Saloni Kumari from Patna, while the boys’ team will be captained by Himanshu Kumar from Muzaffarpur. Both teams will depart for Jalgaon on January 3 night via the Patna-Kurla Express. Vice President Sanjay Kumar, Joint Secretary Rupak Kumar of the Softball Association of Bihar, and Narendra Kumar of Bihar State Sports Authority have congratulated the teams on their selection.
The girls’ team comprises Jagriti Kumari, Shikha Rani, Saloni Kumari, Payal Bharti, Vanshika Kumari, Shambhu Khatoon, Sambhavi Sharma, Suhana Kumari, Khushi Kumari, Chanda Kumari, Reshma Kumari, Divya Kumari, Aditi Priya, Sejal Rakshit, Srishti, and Preeti Priya. The team will be coached and managed by Varsha Sagar.
In the boys’ category, the team includes Rohit Kumar, Nitish Kumar, Vineet Kumar, Anees Kumar, Utkarsh Kumar, Vishwakarma Kumar, Raunak Kumar, Shubham Rai, Ankush Raj, Shashank Sharma, Himanshu Rai, Ravi Kumar, Prince Kumar, Shaurya Udayan, Yuvraj Krishna, and Sahil Kumar. Monu Kumar will serve as the coach, and Vishnu Kumar Ranjan will be the manager.
Both teams aim to perform exceptionally in the championship, showcasing the growing talent in softball from Bihar on a national platform.
