Bihar – Teenage Girl Shot Dead In Patna While Going To Coaching Class
PATNA – Anamika Kumari (17), a student heading for coaching, was shot dead by a young man in Patna’s Masaurhi. Police suspect that the incident is a fallout of one-sided love.
After the shooting, the accused fled from the spot, which occurred just 500 meters from the police station. Nearby people immediately informed the Masaurhi police station.
Upon receiving the information, police personnel reached the spot promptly. The police have initiated further action by sending the deceased’s body to the sub-divisional hospital for post-mortem. Anamika was a resident of Kazichak village and was on her way to study coaching in Masaurhi.
As part of her routine, Anamika was heading from Kazichak village for coaching on Monday. When she reached near the Manikchand turn, the accused youth approached her, leading to an altercation. Subsequently, the accused retrieved a pistol from his waist and fired. Reports indicate that the bullet struck Anamika’s temple, causing her to collapse and writhe in pain.
Upon learning about the incident, Masaurhi police station in-charge Sanjay Kumar, along with his team, reached the spot promptly. The police transported Anamika to the hospital, where doctors declared her dead. Masaurhi police station informed the girl’s family.
Masaurhi SDPO Shubham Arya stated that initially, it appears to be a case of unrequited love. Both Anamika and the accused attended the same coaching classes, where the accused persistently proposed to her. Anamika consistently rejected his advances, leading to the incident.
Patna has recorded the highest number of murders related to love affairs across the country. Among the 19 metropolitan cities in the country, Patna witnessed the highest number of murders due to love affairs in 2022, totaling 107. Of these, 26 murders were attributed to love affairs. Data from the NCRB for 2022 reveals a 40 percent increase in murder cases in Patna compared to 2021.
Additionally, in 2022, Bihar ranked second in the country for murders related to love affairs, with 171 such cases. Uttar Pradesh remained at the top in murders due to love affairs in the country, with 253 cases. These figures have been released by the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).
