Bihar – Tiger Claims Life of Woman Grazing Cattle on Forest Edge Near Valmiki Tiger Reserve

Tiger kills woman in Bihar

NARKATIAGANJ – A woman, who was grazing cattle on the edge of the Valmiki Tiger Reserve forest, has been killed by a tiger. It is reported that the tiger emerged suddenly from the forest and launched an attack, leading to the demise of the woman.

The deceased has been identified as Chilhoriya Devi (50), the wife of Budhan Oraon from Bakhri village in Gaunaha block of West Champaran district, Bihar.

The tiger targeted Chilhoriya Devi from behind, attacking her neck and back on Sunday afternoon. In the face of the perilous situation, fellow shepherds, who were also tending to their cattle, fled to ensure their safety.

Her body was found by the villagers around 1 am in the forest near the SSB Camp, Pirari.

Her body was then transported to Gaunaha Referral Hospital, where the attending doctors declared her dead.

Chilhoriya Devi leaves behind two sons, Hiralal Oraon and Naresh Oraon, along with a daughter named Rajnandini Kumari.

Govardhan Ranger Sujit Kumar confirmed the incident and shared that the family members of the deceased woman have submitted an application. The forest department is engaged in the necessary processes to expedite compensation, ensuring that the victim’s family receives support at the earliest possible moment.
