Bihar to Get Seven New 50-Bed Integrated AYUSH Hospitals by 2025-26: Health Minister

Patna: Bihar Health Minister Mangal Pandey on Monday credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s “visionary thinking” for the consistent growth of the Ministry of AYUSH, and said the state government is actively strengthening traditional medical systems under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar.
Speaking at the inauguration of a four-day training program for AYUSH medical officers under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, Pandey announced a major expansion plan that includes the construction of 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospitals in seven districts — Gopalganj, Siwan, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Begusarai, Gaya, and Motihari — during the financial year 2025–26.
He said that the AYUSH medical system is being extended to both rural and urban areas through Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Currently, joint AYUSH dispensaries are functional in all 38 districts of Bihar. In addition, 12 model district hospitals already have 10-bed AYUSH units, and similar facilities will be established in nine more hospitals nearing completion.

“A 50-bed integrated AYUSH hospital at Nawab Manzil in Patna City has been completed, and pathology testing services will soon begin at Ayushman Arogya Mandirs,” Pandey said.
Highlighting progress in AYUSH education, the minister said that closed medical colleges have been revived as national-level institutions with a funding of ₹834 crore. Admissions have started at Begusarai Ayurvedic College, while Darbhanga Ayurvedic College is ready for operation. The construction of Government RBTS Homeopathic College and Hospital is also nearing completion.
On employment, Pandey said the Health Department is actively recruiting for 35,383 posts, in line with the Chief Minister’s directive to generate 12 lakh jobs and provide employment to 25 lakh people in the state.
Health Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh added that free medicines are being provided through Ayurveda, Homeopathy, and Unani systems in AYUSH hospitals and Ayushman Arogya Mandirs. Dr. Aditya Prakash, meanwhile, noted that doctors at 294 Ayushman Arogya Mandirs across Bihar are being trained under the standards of the National AYUSH Mission to ensure quality healthcare delivery.
