Bihar to Host First All India Athletics Meet on July 19 at Patliputra Sports Complex

More than 250 athletes will compete at Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna as Bihar hosts the All India Athletics Meet for the first time on July 19.

Patna: Bihar is set to host the All India Athletics Meet for the first time on July 19 at Patliputra Sports Complex in Patna. The one-day Open National Athletics Championship for senior men and women is being organised by the Athletics Association of Bihar under the aegis of the Athletics Federation of India.

More than 250 athletes from across the country will participate in the championship. According to Bihar State Sports Authority Director General Ravindran Shankar, participation in this meet is mandatory for athletes aiming to qualify for upcoming international competitions such as the Asian Games and Commonwealth Games.

The championship will feature a range of events including long-distance, middle-distance, and sprint races, relay races, steeplechase, long jump, high jump, triple jump, pole vault, shot put, discus throw, hammer throw, javelin throw, decathlon, heptathlon, marathon, and half marathon.

Organisers said preparations are underway at the Patliputra Sports Complex to accommodate the large number of athletes and ensure the championship runs smoothly.
