Bihar to Open 1000 EV Charging Stations in 2025
Patna: The Bihar government, responding to the rapid increase in electric vehicle use across districts, including Patna, plans to establish over 1000 EV charging stations by next year. Both government and private entities have committed to supporting the infrastructure push, aiming to ensure that EV users face minimal challenges while traveling.
The Transport Department, with representatives from various stakeholders, has set a target of installing 1000 stations. Currently, the state has over 300 EV charging points at petrol stations and other key locations. This expansion will include phased installations along national highways, petrol pumps, bus terminals, and educational institutions, covering essential routes within cities and major travel corridors.
Patna Municipal Corporation will oversee the addition of charging facilities within designated parking areas under Bihar Rajya Pul Nirman Nigam Limited. The Municipal Commissioner is also tasked with identifying further locations for EV charging and marking them for parking, supporting the city’s growing EV infrastructure.
Additionally, the new charging station locations will be accessible on Google Maps, allowing users to easily find facilities as they navigate the state.
