Bihar Tourism: Raju Kumar Singh Takes Charge, Pledges Enhanced Visitor Experience

Patna: Raju Kumar Singh officially assumed office as Bihar’s Tourism Minister on Thursday at the Tourism Department headquarters in the Main Secretariat in Patna. He was welcomed by Tourism Director-cum-Special Secretary Udayan Mishra, Bihar State Tourism Development Corporation Managing Director Nandkishore, and other departmental officials.

Addressing the media after taking charge, Singh emphasized Bihar’s global significance as a center of rich cultural traditions, heritage, and religious tourism. He outlined his vision for improving tourism infrastructure, ensuring a seamless experience for visitors, and increasing tourist footfall in the state.

“When I travel as a tourist, I consider what facilities I need and what challenges I face. Keeping these aspects in mind, we will work to enhance the tourism sector,” he said. Singh noted that the Tourism Department has been consistently working in this direction and that several schemes approved during the Pragati Yatra under Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s leadership will be implemented efficiently.

Singh highlighted his international exposure, having spent several years abroad for studies, and expressed his intent to apply global tourism insights to Bihar’s tourism development. He also countered the perception that Bihar attracts fewer tourists, stating that the state welcomed millions of visitors last year.

“It is encouraging to see tourists enjoying their stay at various destinations across Bihar. The state has immense potential in the tourism industry. Our priority is to make tourism employment-oriented by developing key tourist spots and enhancing basic facilities,” he said.

Singh reiterated the state government’s commitment to continuously improving infrastructure and services to provide visitors with a memorable experience. The event was attended by officials and employees of the Tourism Department.
