Bihar: Vande Bharat Express to Operate Between Patna and Ranchi Via Gaya
GAYA – The Vande Bharat Express is set to operate from Patna to Ranchi in the year 2024, providing significant benefits to residents. The train will also make a stop at Gaya Junction, impacting the stoppage time for several other express and mail trains at Gaya Junction.
In 2023, the redevelopment work has commenced to transform Gaya Junction into a world-class station. During this redevelopment, the railway mail service at Gaya Junction has been shifted to a new building offering improved facilities and a motorcycle stand in a multi-story building.
As part of the redevelopment, a building over 100 years old has been demolished to make way for new structures. The operational offices from the old building have been temporarily shifted to the Delhi side of the junction. Simultaneously, the Vande Bharat Train from Patna to Ranchi is scheduled to commence operations this year, bringing a significant gift to the residents. The stoppage time for several express and mail trains at Gaya Junction has also been increased.
The year 2023 marks a collaborative effort to achieve milestones for the railway. The Railway Mail Service (RMS) at Gaya Junction was relocated to a new building in December. The RMS system is responsible for the sorting, processing, and transportation of mail and parcels within the Indian Railways network.
The railway has undertaken the construction of a new building for the RMS system as part of the global station redevelopment at Gaya Junction, enhancing the facilities and functionality of the RMS system.
In December 2023, the motorcycle stand previously located in the open space outside Gaya Junction has been shifted to a multi-story building. The rapid progress in transforming Gaya Junction into a world-class station has been causing inconvenience to daily commuters traveling by trains. The multi-story building now houses a motorcycle stand on the ground floor and the first floor, ensuring the safety of parked motorcycles.
Furthermore, efforts have been made to increase the speed of trains passing through the railway tracks from Gaya Junction and strengthen the signal system for a safe journey. The automatic block signaling system has been reinforced to improve the speed and safety of train travel on the railway lines. Additionally, there has been an increase in both the speed and the number of trains on the railway lines passing through Gaya Junction. Information about the location of trains is now readily available, contributing to a more efficient and secure railway system.
