PATNA – The Gaya Junction has undergone a redevelopment, costing approximately 300 crores, with a focus on religious and tourism perspectives. Over 100 years old structures have been demolished to construct a green building with modern amenities such as ventilation and airflow. The redevelopment aims to accommodate the growing number of railway passengers until 2065, providing world-class facilities.
In the new year, a ticket counter along with a reservation counter will be available on the Delhi side of Gaya Junction, housed in a newly constructed building to be completed by the end of 2024. The station is set to offer airport-like facilities, including escalators, lifts, food, water, ATMs, and internet access on every platform, ensuring convenience for both regular and senior travelers.
After redevelopment, Gaya Station will become an attractive blend of technology, local culture, and rich heritage, enhancing services for passengers threefold. The development extends to tourist facilities around Gaya Station, anticipating an increase in tourist numbers, benefiting the local population.
Improvements have been made in the Railway Mail Service (RMS) building, a crucial part of the Indian Railways network, shifting it to a new building in 2023. The strong signaling system aims to increase train speeds and ensure safe travel, incorporating an automatic block signaling system to enhance efficiency and provide real-time information on train locations.
Additionally, the redevelopment includes a multistory building for the motorcycle stand outside Gaya Junction, offering secure parking for commuters. The automatic block signal system will facilitate multiple trains running one after another within a one-kilometer distance, improving train speed and increasing the overall capacity of rail lines. The implementation of the automatic block signal system ensures smooth operations and provides information on the location of trains.
