Patna: Bihar is bracing for a shift in weather patterns from Sunday, with widespread rainfall forecast across the state until July 2, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD). Southern parts of Bihar are likely to receive heavier showers compared with the northern regions, though overall temperatures are expected to remain steady over the next four days.

A yellow alert has been issued for heavy rain in isolated areas of Kaimur and Rohtas districts on Sunday. The IMD has also warned of thunderstorms and lightning, accompanied by winds reaching speeds of 30 to 40 km/h, in parts of South Bihar and northwestern districts.

On Saturday, maximum and minimum temperatures climbed across the state. Showers were recorded in West Champaran, Rohtas, Buxar and Katihar, while Patna experienced brief drizzle. High humidity levels, which stood at 94%, contributed to an oppressive heat felt by residents.

Gopalganj reported the state’s highest temperature at 39°C, whereas the lowest was recorded in Gaya at 24.4°C. Patna is forecast to remain cloudy on Sunday, with a possibility of rain, thunder and lightning in some areas. The capital endured sweltering conditions on Saturday, with the mercury rising by 2.4°C and humidity lingering around 53%. Drizzle provided only fleeting relief in the afternoon in a few localities.
