Bihar Weather Update: Rain, Thunderstorms Expected in Several Districts; Yellow Alert Issued

Patna: In a major relief from the scorching heat, the weather in Bihar is expected to take a pleasant turn over the next few days. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast rain and thunderstorms in several parts of the state, including Patna, with gusty winds and a noticeable drop in temperature.
Rain and Thunderstorms Expected in Four Districts Today
On Tuesday, Kishanganj, Araria, Purnia, and Supaul districts are likely to witness isolated rainfall and thunderstorms, accompanied by strong winds blowing at 40–50 km/h. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for these areas, urging residents to remain cautious.
The weather department predicts that this unseasonal change, which may continue until April 13, will bring temporary respite from the heatwave-like conditions prevailing across the state.
Temperature Drop by 2–3°C in 48 Hours
According to the IMD, maximum temperatures across Bihar are expected to dip by 2–3 degrees Celsius over the next 48 hours. On Monday, residents in Patna and nearby regions experienced humid and uncomfortable conditions due to easterly winds and partly cloudy skies.
The weather shift is attributed to a western disturbance over the Western Himalayas, coupled with a cyclonic circulation and low-pressure area developing over the southeast Bay of Bengal.
Monday’s Temperature Readings
- Patna: Minimum temperature – 25.8°C (4°C above normal); Maximum – 39.2°C
- Dehri: Highest maximum temperature in the state – 40.4°C
