Bihar Wins Top Honors at ‘World Food India 2023’ Mega Event
New Delhi: Bihar clinched the prestigious first prize for its outstanding performance in the state category at the closing ceremony of the ‘World Food India 2023’ mega event, held from November 3 to 5 at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. Sandeep Poundrik, Additional Chief of the Industries Department and Vivek Ranjan Maitreya, Director of Food Processing at the department, received the award from President Draupadi Murmu. Pashupati Kumar Paras, Union Food Processing Industries Minister of the Government of India, also graced the occasion.
Expressing his pride upon receiving the first prize for excellent performance at World Food India 2023, Poundrik lauded the state’s achievements in the field of food processing under the leadership of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He stated that Bihar has now become a leading state in India for food processing, agro-based industries, and exports, solidifying its status as an attractive destination for investors.
Vivek Ranjan Maitreya, Director of Food Processing, highlighted the successful participation of Bihar as a partner state in World Food India 2023, with the Invest Bihar Pavilion drawing significant attention from visitors and potential investors.
The World Food India event, which spanned three days, provided an ideal platform for Bihar to engage with domestic and international representatives, resulting in numerous investment proposals and a growing interest in food processing and other sectors within the state.
The Invest Bihar Pavilion at World Food India showcased a wide range of products, including those from companies like Rakesh Masala and Satuj. Notably, MBA Makhanawala’s offering of nine different flavors of roasted makhana and makhana cookies garnered significant admiration, with the startup’s founder, MBA Shravan Kumar Roy, revealing plans to introduce 22 varieties of Makhana restaurant products. Sachin Kumar’s startup, Sattuz, also gained popularity for its various flavored Sattu products. Sachin Kumar explained that the Sattu sauce came in different flavors and received enthusiastic feedback.
The Invest Bihar Pavilion featured the participation of eight startup companies, eight MSMEs (Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises), and eight major enterprises from Bihar, further highlighting the state’s thriving food industry and entrepreneurial ecosystem.
