PATNA – A young man named Amit Kumar, a resident of the Digha police station area, was shot dead. The assailant, who has been arrested and confessed to the crime, called Amit from his home before the fatal incident.

The shooting occurred near Nasriganj Biscuit Factory in the Danapur police station area. However, the motive behind the murder is yet to be determined.

Upon the discovery of Amit’s body, his family and locals took to the streets, blocking Digha Road and resorting to arson. The police successfully cleared the traffic jam through dialogue and persuasion.

The family had reported Amit’s disappearance to the Digha police station on Thursday evening, prompting an immediate investigation. Simultaneously, a body was found near Modi Plastic Factory in the Danapur police station area.

Danapur police responded promptly, securing the body and transporting it to Danapur Sub-Divisional Hospital for postmortem. Visible wounds on the deceased’s neck were noted during the examination. Identification of the deceased remained elusive until late at night.

X-rays were conducted at the hospital to further examine the neck wounds. Local residents mentioned that the inclement weather had kept people indoors throughout the day. In the evening, the community was shocked to discover the lifeless body of the man in a field near Modi Plastic Factory.

As Digha police investigated Amit’s disappearance and detained an individual for questioning, a dead body was found in the Danapur police station area. Under rigorous interrogation, the detained youth confessed to the entire incident. He revealed to the police that after killing Amit Kumar, the body was discarded in the vicinity of Modi Plastic Factory, located at the Biscuit Factory.

Danapur police were immediately informed of this revelation. Later, the family identified the body as Amit Kumar, leading to the arrest of the youth. Meanwhile, other associates involved in the incident are currently at large, police said.
