Bhojpur: The high-speed bullet train connecting Varanasi and Howrah is set to pass through Bhojpur district in Bihar, with groundwork now underway. Revenue officials have begun land surveys in areas likely to be affected, particularly in Jagdishpur block, as the project gears up for land acquisition.
According to officials, the train will cross through parts of Udwantnagar and Koilwar blocks before entering Jagdishpur. The District Magistrate has issued a public notice, instructing local authorities to identify raiyat (private) and government land in the affected panchayats. Specific details such as the type, quantity, and Khasra numbers of land parcels are being compiled.
Villages in the corridor include Bhatauli, Bimwa, Chakwa, Dawa, Hardiya, Harigaon, Hetampur, Kataibojh, Kaura, Teer, Uttardaha, and Tulsi—areas that now await further development under the National High-Speed Rail Corporation’s plans.
Jagdishpur’s Anchal Adhikari, Vishwajit Nilankar, confirmed that revenue staff have been tasked with collecting detailed land records, including ownership and classification. This will help fast-track the acquisition process required for the bullet train’s construction.
