Bihar’s First Neurorehabilitation Center “NeuroVihar” Inaugurated in Patna
Patna: Bihar’s first comprehensive neurorehabilitation center, NeuroVihar, was inaugurated on Sunday by State Health Minister Mangal Pandey and State Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Minister Renu Devi at Bihar Neuro, Rukapanura. The facility introduces five state-of-the-art assessment and treatment units, including a Dizziness Clinic, Stress Clinic, Robotic Spinal Decompression with Clinical Pilates, Balance Unit, and a Digital Joint and Muscle Unit.
Speaking at the event, Minister Mangal Pandey emphasized the critical role of neurorehabilitation in helping patients regain their productive and personal lives. “Neurorehabilitation is a huge unmet need for patients, and such facilities play a vital role in ensuring their well-being,” he said.
Minister Renu Devi lauded the efforts of Dr. Darshpreet Kaur, Chief Physiotherapist at IGIMS, for pioneering this initiative, marking it as the first of its kind in eastern India. She encouraged more medical professionals to bring advanced rehabilitation technologies to Bihar.
Professor Ajay Kumar Singh, former Director of IGIMS and Director of Bihar Neuro, highlighted the importance of integrating cutting-edge and customized rehabilitation into neuro centers.
Dr. Darshpreet Kaur, a certified vestibular therapist and Pilates trainer trained abroad, stated, “We aim to bring evidence-based rehabilitation with the latest technology to benefit our patients.”
Dr. Gunjan Kumar, former Head of the Department at AIIMS Patna, stressed the need for expert diagnosis and treatment in neurorehabilitation. Other distinguished medical professionals present at the event included Dr. Amrita Kumari, Medical Superintendent of PMCH; Prof. I.S. Thakur; former IMA President Dr. Sahajanand Singh; Padma Shri awardee Dr. Hemant Kumar; IGIMS Medical Superintendent Dr. Manish Mandal; Dr. Vikas Shankar; and Dr. Narendra Sinha.
Dr. Amrita Kumari also launched a special Stress Booklet for patients, aimed at raising awareness and offering guidance on stress management.
NeuroVihar is Bihar’s first advanced neurorehabilitation center, featuring specialized units such as Chakkar Clinic™ Pilates, Digital Balance Unit, Stress Unit, Robotic Spinal Decompression, and a Digital Joint and Muscle Health Unit. The center aims to set new standards in neurorehabilitation by integrating innovative treatment methods.
