Bihar’s Padma Awards: Sharda Sinha, Sushil Modi, and Kishore Kunal Recognized Posthumously

Patna: Folk singer late Sharda Sinha has been posthumously awarded the Padma Vibhushan, India’s second-highest civilian honor, in recognition of her immense contribution to the field of art. Late BJP leader Sushil Modi was also awarded the Padma Bhushan for his exceptional public service, while Acharya Kishore Kunal, the late Secretary of Mahavir Mandir Nyas Samiti, was posthumously conferred with the Padma Shri for his dedication to civil service.

In addition to these posthumous recognitions, three more individuals were awarded the Padma Shri. Dr. Bhim Singh Bhavesh, a social worker from Bhojpur, was honored for his 22 years of work uplifting the Musahar community through the ‘Nai Asha’ Foundation. Muzaffarpur’s Nirmala Devi received the Padma Shri for her dedication to traditional embroidery, while Shri Vijay Nityananda Surishwar Ji Maharaj was recognized for his contributions to spiritualism.

Dr. Bhavesh’s work, particularly in the Musahar community, earned praise from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who highlighted his efforts during the 110th episode of “Mann Ki Baat.” Meanwhile, Nirmala Devi’s skillful preservation of traditional embroidery has earned her widespread recognition.

Expressing his pride in the recognition, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar congratulated the honorees, including Sharda Sinha, Sushil Modi, Acharya Kishore Kunal, Bhim Singh Bhavesh, Nirmala Devi, and Vijay Nityananda Surishwar Ji Maharaj. The Chief Minister noted that these Padma awards serve as a testament to the remarkable contributions these individuals have made in their respective fields, further strengthening Bihar’s rich cultural and social fabric.
