Bihar’s Pride: Narmdeshwar Tiwari Appointed as Vice Chief of Indian Air Force

Patna : The Indian Air Force (IAF) has appointed Air Marshal Narmdeshwar Tiwari as its new Vice Chief, succeeding Air Marshal Sandeep Singh who retired recently. Hailing from Siwan district in Bihar, Tiwari’s appointment marks a proud moment for the region and underscores his exceptional career in India’s defence services.

Commissioned into the IAF’s fighter stream in 1986, Air Marshal Tiwari is an alumnus of the National Defence Academy and has flown a wide range of fighter aircraft, including the Su-30 MKI.

He has held several prestigious operational and administrative positions throughout his career, including Senior Air Staff Officer (SASO) of the Central Air Command.

Known for his leadership and combat skills, Tiwari has over 3,700 hours of flying experience and has commanded both front-line air bases and operational squadrons. His elevation comes at a critical juncture when the Indian Air Force is focusing on modernization and enhanced joint operations with the Army and Navy.

Locals in Siwan celebrated the news, with many praising Tiwari’s journey from a small town to the top brass of India’s military. His appointment also highlights the increasing representation of officers from Bihar in top defence roles.

Air Marshal Tiwari is expected to bring renewed energy and strategic direction to the Air Force in his new role.
