Bihar’s Silk Industry Gets a Boost as BAU Sabour and Eco Tasar Silk Sign Landmark MoU

Sabour: Bihar Agricultural University (BAU), Sabour, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Eco Tasar Silk Pvt. Ltd., New Delhi, aiming to modernize Bihar’s silk industry and make it globally competitive. The agreement focuses on research, innovation, and skill development in silk production. The MoU was signed by Dr. A.K. Singh, Director of Research, BAU, Sabour, and Khitish Pandya, Managing Director, Eco Tasar Silk Pvt. Ltd. Dr. B. Satyanarayana, Principal of DKSC, Kishanganj, and other scientists were also present.
Under this partnership, BAU Sabour will conduct advanced research and training programs, including structured internships, capacity-building workshops, and practical training sessions for students, researchers, and farmers. The collaboration also aims to introduce new technologies and machinery to improve silk production efficiency, quality, and sustainability.
The initiative will also focus on market expansion and industry promotion by integrating scientific research with traditional craftsmanship. Strengthening the supply chain will create better economic opportunities for farmers and artisans, making Bihar’s silk industry more competitive on national and international platforms.
Dr. D.R. Singh, Vice Chancellor of BAU, Sabour, called the partnership a crucial step towards modernizing the silk industry and empowering stakeholders with world-class production technologies. Dr. Anil Kumar Singh, Director of Research, BAU, emphasized the importance of combining traditional methods with modern innovations to ensure sustainability. Khitish Pandya of Eco Tasar Silk Pvt. Ltd. expressed confidence that this collaboration will bring greater profitability and long-term prosperity to Bihar’s silk producers.
