Bihar’s Top Civil Servants Disclose Asset Details, Some Boast Revolvers, Others Favor Cameras

Patna: Civil servants serving in key positions in Bihar have made public disclosures of their assets on Monday, shedding light on their financial holdings. Among those who have disclosed their assets are the Chief Secretary, Director General of Police (DGP), and the Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister, revealing a range of movable and immovable assets.

Chief Secretary Brajesh Mehrotra has revealed holdings totaling approximately Rs 19 lakh in his bank accounts. This includes deposits in three bank accounts, with the largest amount, Rs 11.81 lakh, held in the Raj Bhavan branch of the State Bank of India (SBI). Additionally, he owns a flat in Gomti Nagar, Lucknow, jointly purchased with his wife, valued at around Rs 27 lakh. Another property in Vista Tower Gomti Nagar, worth approximately Rs 80 lakh, is also part of his asset portfolio. Notably, his wife, Mamta Mehrotra, possesses jewelry gifted to her by her mother.

DGP RS Bhatti, while not owning any gold or silver jewelry himself, revealed that his wife possesses jewelry worth approximately Rs 91 lakh. Additionally, he has cash holdings of Rs 45,000, with his wife holding Rs 35,000. During his service tenure, Bhatti deposited Rs 41.81 lakh in banks, with investments in bonds and shares amounting to about Rs 54 lakh. Furthermore, he owns a residence in Chandigarh spanning five hundred square yards.

Principal Secretary of the CM Secretariat, Dr. S. Siddharth, boasts a collection of camera equipment, including a Nikon camera and lens, alongside a pistol. His financial assets include bank deposits totaling Rs 52.81 lakh and investments in shares. A flat in Dwarka, Delhi, valued at approximately Rs 25 lakh, is also part of his holdings, albeit with a loan burden of about Rs 90 lakh.

Other officials who disclosed their assets include Building Construction Department Secretary and Patna Commissioner Kumar Ravi, whose assets include gold, cash, and property in Patna, worth approximately Rs 53 lakh. Principal Secretary to the Governor, Robert L. Chongthu, owns two cars and has modest cash and bank holdings, with his wife possessing a considerable sum in her bank and PPF accounts.

Dr. N Vijayalakshmi, an official holding assets in Bihar, Tamil Nadu, and Telangana, declared a variety of holdings including cash, bank deposits, jewelry, and property, totaling significant sums. Similarly, Agriculture Secretary Sanjay Aggarwal disclosed his financial assets, including cash, bank deposits, gold, and property holdings in Bihar and Ghaziabad.
