Bihar’s Water Resources Minister Urges Swift Implementation of Pragati Yatra Announcements

Patna: Bihar’s Water Resources Minister, Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, has directed officials to prioritise the swift implementation of announcements made by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar during the Pragati Yatra. Chairing a review meeting at the Irrigation Bhawan Auditorium on Monday, Chaudhary emphasised that there should be no negligence in executing these schemes.
Senior officials from the department’s headquarters attended the meeting, while chief engineers of various projects joined via video conferencing. The minister stressed that the implementation of the Chief Minister’s announcements remains a top priority for the state government. He instructed senior officials to regularly monitor the progress of relevant schemes and ensure their timely completion.
Addressing potential hurdles, Chaudhary urged departmental officers to coordinate with Circle Officers and district administrations to resolve land acquisition issues swiftly. He advised officials to review whether the necessary land records, including account details, khesra (plot numbers), and alignments, had been finalised.
The minister further instructed chief engineers to work collaboratively on all aspects of project execution, from preparing designs and detailed project reports (DPRs) to implementation. He called for a systematic approach, including the creation of checklists for each scheme. Chaudhary stressed that chief engineers must personally oversee progress and ensure that no delays occur.
The Pragati Yatra, an initiative aimed at assessing development work across districts, has seen the Chief Minister announce various schemes intended to bolster infrastructure and water management. The Water Resources Department’s commitment to expediting these projects is expected to play a key role in meeting the government’s development targets.
