Patna: Following its successful introduction in Patna, bike taxi services have now begun operating in Muzaffarpur. The District Magistrate of Muzaffarpur officially launched the service, which is part of a larger initiative by the Transport Department to expand ride-sharing options in several districts of Bihar. Companies like Ola, Uber, Rapido, and Sawari Mithila are set to offer these services in a phased manner, with Muzaffarpur being one of the first cities to benefit.
The Transport Secretary has announced that in the first phase, bike and taxi cab services will be introduced in 13 cities, including Darbhanga, Bhagalpur, Purnia, Gaya, Vaishali, Saran, and more. This expansion aims to provide accessible and affordable transportation to passengers in district headquarters, making commuting easier and more reliable for the general public. The bike taxi service is expected to be a cost-effective solution, offering safe and efficient travel options.
Booking for these services can be done through dedicated mobile apps, ensuring that passengers can easily access the service from their smartphones. The introduction of bike taxis is not only seen as a move towards improving urban mobility but also as an opportunity for local employment. The demand for drivers in the bike-taxi segment is expected to rise, offering job opportunities to local residents.
This new service is designed to meet the growing transportation needs in Bihar, providing passengers with a reliable alternative to traditional modes of transport. In addition to convenience, the service is expected to promote safer travel at lower costs, enhancing the overall travel experience for users in these districts.
As part of the larger rollout, the second phase of the initiative will expand bike and taxi cab services to a total of 25 districts, further extending the reach of this innovative transport solution across the state.
