Patna: Bihar’s Education Department is set to introduce stringent measures to monitor student attendance in government schools. Dr. S. Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, announced during the “Shiksha Ki Baat” program on Saturday that student attendance will be recorded via a biometric system, complete with photographs, after the summer holidays. This initiative aims to ensure accurate tracking of actual student presence in schools.
Strict Action Against Teachers Running Coaching Centers
Dr. Siddharth also issued a stern warning against government teachers engaging in private coaching. He explicitly stated that government teachers are prohibited from teaching in coaching centers, and strict action will be taken against any found violating this rule. Similarly, he emphasized that students should not attend coaching centers during school hours under any circumstances, highlighting the importance of timely school attendance for ensuring quality education.
Accountability for Delays in Service Confirmation
Addressing a concern raised about the pending service confirmations for many teachers over the past five years, Dr. Siddharth expressed his displeasure, calling it “very sad.” He assured that if any negligence by personnel or officers is found to be the cause of these delays, strict action will be taken. He also pledged that the service confirmation process would be completed within the next week.
Summer Camps to Feature Local Artists
The Education Department has announced the introduction of summer camps in schools, offering classes in music, art, drama, and craft. Local artists will be invited to conduct these sessions and will receive an honorarium for their contributions, a move expected to foster students’ creative development.
Special Training for Teachers in Mathematics and Reading
To enhance the quality of education in government schools, teachers will undergo specialized training in mathematics and reading. Dr. Siddharth stated that this training will improve teachers’ proficiency, enabling them to explain concepts better and help students retain information more effectively.
Special Instructions for Urdu Medium Students
In schools where education is imparted in Urdu, students will be provided with question papers in Urdu during examinations. This directive aims to ensure that language does not become a barrier to students’ academic progress.
