BJP Announces Candidates for Bihar MLC Elections
The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) unveiled its three contenders for the upcoming Bihar Legislative Council (MLC) elections on Saturday. Former ministers Mangal Pandey, Lal Mohan Gupta, and Anamika Singh have been nominated as candidates by the BJP.
Here’s a brief overview of the BJP candidates for the Legislative Council:
1. Mangal Pandey: Mangal Pandey is recognized as a seasoned leader within the Bihar BJP. He represents the Brahmin face of the party and has served as a minister across various departments of the Bihar government. Notably, he has held significant responsibilities, including that of the health department. Pandey has also held the position of Bihar BJP state president and currently serves as the state in-charge of West Bengal. He has previously served as the in-charge of Himachal Pradesh.
2. Anamika Singh Patel: Anamika Singh Patel is regarded as a longstanding and dedicated member of the BJP. With a strong association with the party’s organization, this marks her first nomination as an MLC candidate. Singh Patel has previously served as the president of the BJP’s state Mahila Morcha and currently holds the position of state BJP spokesperson. Additionally, she runs her own hospital in Saguna Mod, Patna. Hailing from the Rajput caste and married into the Kurmi caste, she now prefers to be addressed as Patel post-marriage, indicating her candidacy under the OBC quota.
3. Lal Mohan Gupta: Lal Mohan Gupta is another esteemed member known for his loyalty and dedication to the party. He has previously served as the district president of the BJP in Munger. Belonging to the EBC (Tanti class), Gupta is recognized as a committed worker within the BJP ranks. Throughout his career, he has maintained strong ties with the Sangh. Notably, Gupta has remained unmarried.
