Patna: An IndiGo flight carrying 195 passengers from Ahmedabad to Patna was subjected to an emergency security operation on Wednesday following a bomb threat received minutes before landing.
The alert was raised at 12:45 pm when IndiGo’s station manager received a WhatsApp message claiming a bomb was onboard flight 6E 921. Air Traffic Control was immediately notified, and the aircraft landed safely at 12:53 pm at Patna airport.
As per standard emergency procedure, the plane was quickly diverted to an isolation bay, away from the main runway. The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), bomb disposal squad, and dog squad conducted a thorough inspection of the aircraft and the newly built terminal building. The security operation lasted approximately one hour, after which authorities confirmed that no explosive or suspicious object was found.
Passengers were safely evacuated following the all-clear, and the aircraft was moved back to the runway around 2 pm. The incident caused temporary disruption to flight operations at the airport, but services resumed shortly after the situation was brought under control.
A cyber investigation is now underway to trace the origin of the threat. Officials confirmed that the cyber cell is actively involved in identifying the sender and determining their motive.
