Cabinet Decision: Patna’s Sadar Circle Split into Four
Patna: The residents of Patna’s Sadar circle will soon benefit from a more accessible and efficient system for handling land and certificate-related matters, as the state cabinet on Wednesday approved a proposal to divide the circle into four parts. Four new circle offices—Patliputra, Patna City, Didarganj, and Sadar—are set to be established, easing the burden on the existing Sadar Circle office and reducing the need for residents to travel long distances for essential services.
This reorganisation, which will divide the Sadar Circle into four distinct circles, aims to streamline access to revenue and land reform services such as land mutation, income certificates, caste certificates, and residence certificates. As a result, the number of administrative circles in Patna will increase from 23 to 26, potentially enhancing service delivery across the city.
Following the reorganisation, Sadar circle will encompass 27 municipal wards, while Patliputra circle will cover 25, Patna City circle 17, and Didarganj circle six wards. The Sadar circle, which previously included 72 revenue villages, will now oversee 18 villages, with the remainder allocated to the new zones—15 villages in Patliputra, 12 in Patna City, and 27 in Didarganj. Additionally, the number of jamabandi raiyats (landholders) under the Sadar circle will be reduced by more than a third.
The current Sadar circle headquarters, located in Kumhrar, will continue to manage administrative tasks, but with the new zonal offices, residents from various parts of the city will experience significant relief from long commutes. For instance, residents of the Patliputra or Digha areas currently need to travel 15 to 20 kilometres to access services, but the new Patliputra circle office will dramatically reduce this distance, allowing for quicker and easier access.
The reorganisation plan proposes that the old circle office at Gandhi Maidan will serve as the headquarters for the Sadar circle. Areas such as Gandhi Maidan, Sabzibagh, Ashok Rajpath, Kadamkuan, and others will fall under this office’s jurisdiction. Meanwhile, Digha, Rajivnagar, Ashiana Nagar, and surrounding areas will be incorporated into the Patliputra circle. The Kumhrar-based circle office will cover regions including Kankarbagh, Bahadurpur, and Musallahpur Haat. Didarganj circle will oversee areas like Fatehpur, Mahuli, and Gyanchak, among others.
