Patna: Thousands of candidates gathered in Gardanibagh, Patna, protesting against the Central Selection Board of Constable (CSBC). Candidates from across Bihar, accompanied by their physical trainers, demanded the re-implementation of the Non-Creamy Layer (NCL) and Economically Weaker Sections (EWS) criteria. The protest follows an indefinite strike that began on November 25. Demonstrators raised slogans against CSBC and the state government, voicing concerns about being excluded from the recruitment process.
Trainer Kanhaiya Kumar pointed out that the initial recruitment notification failed to clarify the eligibility requirements for NCL and EWS candidates. Currently, only those with prior certifications are being considered, leaving many candidates ineligible. He argued that this oversight would disqualify several aspirants who have been preparing for years, urging authorities to accept newly issued NCL and EWS certificates for the ongoing recruitment drive.
Candidate Ritesh Sharma shared his struggles, describing how he has been staying at the station for three days, balancing his physical training while protesting. Coming from a financially constrained background, with his father working as a carpenter, Ritesh expressed disappointment at the prospect of being disqualified during document verification despite his hard work and academic efforts.
The recruitment drive is for 21,391 constable posts. Candidates contend that excluding updated NCL and EWS certifications is unjust, calling for immediate revisions to ensure fairness and inclusivity in the recruitment process.
