Patna: Chandragupt Institute of Management Patna (CIMP), a leading institution among the ten chosen nodal centres in India, has successfully wrapped up the inaugural day of the Innovation, Design, and Entrepreneurship (IDE) Bootcamp.

This event, tailored for students and teachers from PM SHRI Schools, is organized by the Ministry of Education’s Innovation Cell, AICTE, and Wadhwani Foundation. The two-day bootcamp is dedicated to nurturing creativity, design thinking, and entrepreneurial skills among around 90 students and 90 teachers from 90 PM SHRI schools in Bihar.

The opening ceremony featured Prof. Sunil Kant Verma, Vice-Chancellor of Bihar Engineering University, Patna, who delivered the keynote address. He was joined by notable figures including Madan Mohan Sharan Singh from the Ministry of Education Innovation Cell, Sunil Kumar from BEPC, Patna, Prof. Dr. Rana Singh, Director of CIMP, Gauri Gopinath from the Wadhwani Foundation, and Kumod Kumar, Chief Administrative Officer of CIMP.

Prof. Verma engaged the audience with an enlightening discussion on innovation, stressing that “Innovation isn’t about doing new things but about doing things in new ways. The key lies in cultivating an open mind and embracing new perspectives.”

Prof. Dr. Rana Singh expressed his gratitude for the support from both the Prime Minister and the Chief Minister of Bihar in fostering a culture of innovation. He highlighted India’s impressive leap in the Global Innovation Index (GII) rankings, saying, “India’s rise from 86th to 40th place in the GII reflects the strength of our startup ecosystem. We are excited to guide the students from PM SHRI Schools as they prepare to be the future leaders driving India’s transformation.”

Sunil Kumar emphasized the exclusivity of the opportunity, noting that only 90 out of 531 PM SHRI schools across Bihar were chosen for this bootcamp. He also highlighted the government’s investment of INR 1,100 crore in enhancing school infrastructure and resources.

Madan Mohan Sharan Singh encouraged participants to leverage the support from CIMP-BIIF in developing their ideas and prototypes. He also announced a follow-up bootcamp in New Delhi scheduled for July 29, 2025, aimed at further refining participants’ innovations.

The day’s activities included a series of engaging sessions such as “Quest Spark: Introduction to Innovation and Design Thinking” and “Find Your Flow: Discovering Your Entrepreneurial Skills,” led by Gauri Gopinath from the Wadhwani Foundation. Educators participated in a session titled “Inspired to Start: Mentoring the Next Generation of Young Innovators,” while students engaged in “Student-preneur Success: Discover a Startup Roadmap,” focusing on turning ideas into successful ventures.

Participants also visited the Atal Tinkering Lab at Radiant International School, Patna, to explore prototype development hands-on.

Kumod Kumar, in his closing remarks, noted, “This bootcamp is a pivotal moment in nurturing future innovators and problem solvers. By empowering both students and educators with crucial skills, we are preparing leaders who will drive societal progress.”

The day concluded with a cultural Kavi Sammelan at the CIMP auditorium, adding a festive touch to the event.

The IDE Bootcamp will continue on September 12, 2024, at the CIMP campus, the sole institution in Bihar hosting this prestigious program.
