Chaos at Patliputra University as MLC Threatens Registrar During Senate Meeting

Patna: A Senate meeting at Patliputra University in Patna descended into chaos after MLC Naval Kishore Yadav allegedly threatened to beat the university’s registrar, Professor NK Jha. The heated confrontation, which included verbal abuse and physical threats, briefly halted proceedings as other members intervened to restore order.
Tensions within the university had already been simmering due to ongoing friction between the Vice Chancellor and the Registrar. As Thursday’s meeting commenced, Yadav reportedly stormed the stage, hurling insults at Jha before issuing the threats. The situation escalated to the point where the Registrar later stated that working under such conditions had become untenable, hinting at the possibility of his resignation.
This latest controversy follows a serious complaint lodged by Jha last week, in which he alleged that the Vice Chancellor’s security personnel had threatened him. He filed a formal police complaint at Bahadurpur police station, stating that on March 29, armed guards loyal to Vice Chancellor Sharad Kumar had come to his house with the intent to attack him. An FIR has since been registered, and an investigation is underway.
In response, the Vice Chancellor has rejected the accusations, filing his own complaint directly with Bihar’s Director General of Police (DGP). Kumar has dismissed the Registrar’s claims as baseless and has demanded a formal inquiry. He has also urged authorities to take legal action, escalating the power struggle at the university.
