Chief Minister Inspects Bapu Tower Exhibits, Provides Guidelines for Final Touches

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inspected the exhibits at Bapu Tower in Gardanibagh, reviewing the construction progress across several floors. The Chief Minister visited the ground, third, and fifth floors, taking stock of the developments and features like the turn table theater show located in the orientation hall on the ground floor.

The Secretary of the Building Construction Department, Kumar Ravi, provided detailed updates on the project, explaining how the orientation hall would showcase Bapu’s biography, ideals, and contributions to Bihar. He also briefed the Chief Minister on the facilities, including an auditorium, lounge, waiting rooms, galleries, and a research center. The inauguration of Bapu Tower is scheduled for 2 October.

The Chief Minister emphasized the importance of the tower in educating the new generation about Mahatma Gandhi’s life, thoughts, and role in India’s freedom struggle. He praised the campus’s organization and greenery, highlighting the unique design of Bapu Tower, which features murals and exhibits detailing Gandhiji’s life across its five floors. He also instructed officials to widen the roads around the tower and plant trees along the roadside to ensure a comfortable experience for visitors.

The Bapu Tower project was initially announced during the Champaran Satyagraha Centenary Celebration in 2017. Construction began on 2 October 2018, with the aim of spreading Gandhiji’s teachings to the masses. The rectangular and conical structure includes three exhibition galleries, an auditorium, and a 102-foot-high conical tower displaying key moments from Gandhi’s life through murals and screens.

During the inspection, Principal Secretary Deepak Kumar, Secretary Anupam Kumar, Special Officer Gopal Singh, and several senior officials and engineers from the Building Construction Department were also present. The Chief Minister also reviewed the external decoration and lighting work at Technology Bhawan, Visvesvaraya Bhawan, and Vikas Bhawan, commending the efforts of the department.
