Chief Secretary pledges swift action on ₹1.8 lakh crore investment commitments from Bihar Business Connect 2024

Patna: Bihar Chief Secretary Amrit Lal Meena has assured swift action to convert the ₹1.8 lakh crore worth of Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) signed during the Bihar Business Connect 2024 into on-ground investments within a year. The event, held on December 19-20 in Patna, marked a historic milestone for the state, with 423 MoUs signed across 11 sectors—three times the total investment commitments secured in 2023.

“The government has decided to appoint one nodal officer for every 5–10 MoUs to coordinate with investors and facilitate the process,” Meena said in a statement. “These officers will ensure ease of doing business, including securing land and obtaining all necessary clearances. Progress will be reviewed periodically by the State Investment Promotion Board.”

Renewable energy takes the spotlight

The renewable energy sector emerged as the top investment magnet, with Sun Petro Chemicals committing ₹36,700 crore and NHPC contributing ₹5,500 crore.

Bandana Preyashi, Secretary of the Department of Industries, assured industrialists of a seamless investment experience. “Stage 1 clearance has already been granted to all companies. Currently, 1,800 acres of land are available, and additional parcels are being identified to meet sector-specific requirements,” she said. “Together, we are building a brighter, more prosperous Bihar.”

Boosting industrial transformation

The two-day summit also featured sector-specific sessions on renewable energy, MSMEs, startups, and tourism. Nearly 1,000 industrialists participated in the event, which highlighted Bihar’s industrial potential.

Adding to the occasion, a coffee table book titled Bihar: A Journey of Industrial Transformation was unveiled, capturing the state’s progress and aspirations for the future.

With record-breaking investment pledges and a proactive approach to implementation, the Bihar Business Connect 2024 signals the state’s commitment to fostering a dynamic and sustainable industrial ecosystem.
