Chirag Paswan Files Nomination for Hajipur Lok Sabha Seat Amid Emotional Tribute to Late Father
Patna: In a poignant moment laden with both reverence and resolve, Chirag Paswan, the President of Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) candidate, officially filed his nomination for the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat on Thursday. Preceding the nomination formalities, Paswan sought blessings by worshipping Ganesh at his residence, underscoring the spiritual significance of the occasion. Accompanying him were Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Chaudhary and Vijay Kumar Sinha, adding to the ceremonial aura of the event.
Expressing a mix of nostalgia and determination, Paswan articulated, “Today is a very emotional day for me. Today I am missing my father the most.” He reminisced about his father’s guiding presence during previous electoral processes, lamenting the void left by his absence. “Today for the first time, I am going to file nomination without him,” he added with a palpable sense of solemnity.
Despite the emotional undertone, Paswan exuded confidence in garnering the trust and support of the people of Hajipur, a constituency deeply intertwined with the legacy of his late father, Ram Vilas Paswan. In a veiled warning to his political adversaries, particularly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, Paswan asserted, “Stop making statements against me regarding reservation, otherwise legal action will be taken.”
Following the nomination, Paswan’s emotions resurfaced, revealing a lingering strain in familial relationships. “Uncle still hates me. I don’t like this,” he lamented, hinting at underlying tensions within the Paswan family.
This electoral endeavor marks Chirag Paswan’s maiden contest for the Hajipur Lok Sabha seat, which holds profound significance as the birthplace of the esteemed late Ram Vilas Paswan, a towering figure in Bihar politics. Notably, Ram Vilas Paswan had achieved a historic victory from this constituency, etching his legacy in its political landscape.
The electoral dynamics of Hajipur witnessed a familial contest in the 2019 elections when Chirag’s uncle and former Union Minister, Pashupati Paras, secured victory on an LJP ticket. Meanwhile, Chirag Paswan has previously represented the Jamui constituency in Parliament, adding a layer of intrigue to the forthcoming electoral battle in Hajipur.
