CM Nitish Kumar and Deputy CM Tejashwi Yadav Hand Over Joining Letters to 25,000 Newly Appointed Teachers at Patna
Patna: In a momentous event that made history, the Bihar government issued a staggering 120,336 appointment letters to newly appointed teachers, with 25,000 of them receiving their letters during a grand ceremony held at Gandhi Maidan in Patna on Thursday. The letters were personally handed over by Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, underscoring the significance of this mass teacher recruitment initiative.
During the event, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar made a crucial announcement that contractual teachers would also attain permanent positions with a minor test serving as the only hurdle towards achieving job security.
These appointments come as a result of the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) declaring 120,336 candidates as having successfully passed the rigorous selection process. Impressively, 48% of these candidates are female, accounting for 57,854 individuals. Furthermore, 88% of the successful candidates hail from Bihar, with the remaining 12% representing a diverse group of 14,000 individuals from various states across the nation.
Addressing the gathered crowd, Chief Minister (CM) Nitish emphasized the importance of ensuring that the youth of Bihar have the opportunity to secure jobs both within the state and beyond. He pointed out that only 12% of candidates from other states were successful in the teacher recruitment examination and urged critics to remember that Bihar is an integral part of the nation. He asserted that there had been no injustice done to the youth of Bihar by offering job opportunities to candidates from other states.
A significant number of employed teachers, around 68,000, participated in the teacher recruitment examination, with 28,815 candidates successfully passing. Notably, individuals from 14 different states, including Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, and Uttar Pradesh, have been appointed as teachers. The diversity of the new teaching workforce even extends to individuals previously working in sectors like Railways, Banking, the Army, and Paramilitary Forces.
CM Nitish reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to creating job opportunities, stating that they are actively working towards providing 10 lakh jobs and employment opportunities. He further disclosed that there are plans to reinstate 50,000 headmasters and recruit 51,000 police officers shortly. Bihar’s government is diligently working to fulfil its promise of offering 10 lakh government jobs within the next year and a half, with rapid progress being made in this regard.
To address the remaining 70,000 vacant positions in the teacher recruitment examination, CM Nitish directed KK Pathak, the Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department, to complete the appointments within two months, with Pathak readily agreeing to the commitment.
Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav expressed his pride in this historic event, where the state distributed 1.20 lakh appointment letters simultaneously. He affirmed that this trend of creating job opportunities would continue, extending into other departments. Tejashwi reiterated the government’s steadfast commitment to offering 10 lakh government jobs and celebrated the fact that 48% of successful candidates are women.
In addition, the Deputy CM emphasized that the government’s central mission is to employ the unemployed while ensuring social justice in job allocation. He also issued a strong warning, stating that those who seek to exploit religious sentiments for political gain would face consequences, just as any political action in Gujarat would face-selective media coverage.
Finance Minister Vijay Chaudhary commended CM Nitish for his bold announcement from Gandhi Maidan to provide 10 lakh jobs and noted that part of this commitment had been fulfilled through the recruitment of these newly appointed teachers. Chaudhary called on the newly appointed teachers to prove their dedication and loyalty to their new roles and highlighted that while the government strives to create employment opportunities, detractors have thus far failed to substantiate their allegations of misconduct.
