CM Nitish Kumar Cuts Short UK Trip Amid Election Uncertainty

London: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to curtail his week-long tour of Britain and return to Patna earlier than scheduled, amidst ongoing political turmoil surrounding seat-sharing negotiations for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections. Originally slated to return on March 13, CM Nitish will now arrive in Patna on Monday to finalize electoral arrangements within the NDA coalition.

During his visit to England, CM Nitish engaged in a series of diplomatic meetings and investment promotion endeavors. He toured Science City, held discussions with potential investors, and extended invitations for investment in Bihar. Additionally, he convened with non-resident Biharis and conferred with the High Commissioner of India in Britain. However, with seat-sharing disagreements persisting among NDA constituents, CM Nitish has opted to cut short his trip to address the pressing electoral matters back home.

In a gesture of appreciation, overseas Biharis convened in London to honor CM Nitish, presenting him with insignia and traditional attire. Praising his leadership, they commended Bihar’s ongoing progress under his stewardship, lauding the state’s comprehensive development initiatives. Former Bihar Government Minister and Rajya Sabha MP, Sanjay Kumar Jha, also attended the event, underscoring the significance of CM Nitish’s leadership in Bihar’s growth trajectory.

U.K. Seva Dal Jathedar, Baba Mohinder Singh, likewise called on CM Nitish, acknowledging his pivotal role in bolstering the Sikh community in Bihar. Singh credited CM Nitish for orchestrating the grand 350th Prakash Parv event and spearheading the construction of a grand Gurudwara in Rajgir, attributing these milestones to the Chief Minister’s dedicated efforts.

During a courtesy meeting, India’s High Commissioner to Britain, Vikram K. Doraiswami, engaged in substantive discussions with CM Nitish, particularly focusing on the construction of the Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam Science City in Patna. Assuring unwavering support, the British High Commissioner pledged to assist in the realization of Bihar’s vision for an iconic and world-class science city, thereby elevating the state’s contributions to the global scientific community.
