Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Friday inaugurated a newly constructed administrative office on the sixth floor of Bapu Tower in Gardanibagh, marking the event with a ceremonial ribbon cutting and plaque unveiling.
Following the inauguration, the CM conducted an extensive inspection of the building, which is dedicated to commemorating Mahatma Gandhi’s life and legacy. He toured the orientation hall on the ground floor, as well as the third and fifth floors, observing the curated exhibits housed across various galleries.
He was briefed by Building Construction Department Secretary Kumar Ravi, who explained the layout and design features of the tower, including murals, cut-outs, and screen projections showcasing Gandhi’s life. The building includes five ramps and multiple exhibition spaces highlighting Bapu’s philosophy, his role in India’s independence movement, and his connection to Bihar.
During the visit, the CM also inspected facilities such as an auditorium, visitor lounge, waiting rooms, a research centre, and galleries meant to display Gandhi’s ideals to the wider public. He emphasised the importance of maintaining the tower’s green and well-organised environment.
“Bapu Tower has been developed magnificently,” he said. “It offers the new generation an opportunity to learn about Gandhi’s life, ideas, and values in a meaningful way. The exhibits here beautifully capture his historical contributions and his deep association with Bihar.”
He also interacted with a group of schoolchildren visiting the tower, encouraging them to explore the exhibits and understand the legacy of Mahatma Gandhi. “You must visit Bapu Tower and observe closely the events and activities related to the Father of the Nation,” he told them.
The inspection was attended by several senior officials, including Chief Minister’s Principal Secretary Dr S Siddharth, Secretary of Building Construction Department Kumar Ravi, Patna District Magistrate Dr Thyagarajan S M, and Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K Sharma.
