Cold Day Alert in 3 Districts, Dense Fog in 9: Rain Likely in Bihar Tomorrow, Cold to Intensify After January 29

Patna: Bihar is unlikely to see any relief from the cold on Republic Day, with the Patna Meteorological Centre issuing a yellow alert for cold-day conditions in three districts and dense fog in nine. Additionally, light rain is expected in parts of the state on Monday, January 27.

Meteorologist Kumar Gaurav explained that a tropical western jet stream, active at a speed of 150 knots and located 12.6 km above sea level in the western Himalayan region, is contributing to the current conditions. A western disturbance is expected to impact the Himalayan region from January 29, which may further intensify the cold.

Dense fog is likely to blanket Patna between 6 am and 10 am on Republic Day, with wind speeds of around 9 km/h. Northern Bihar is also expected to experience dense fog during the morning hours over the next 24 hours. However, the minimum temperature is forecast to remain stable for the next four days.

In the past 24 hours, Buxar recorded the highest temperature in the state at 25.2°C, while Jamui remained the coldest, with a minimum temperature of 6.9°C.
