Cold Wave Alert in Bihar: Disaster Management Department Issues Guidelines and Helpline Numbers
Patna: The Disaster Management Department in Bihar has issued a cold wave alert, urging residents to avoid going outdoors unless necessary. Helpline numbers (0612-2294204/05 and 1070) have been provided for assistance during the cold wave.
The Meteorological Department in Patna has predicted rain and lightning in 19 districts of the state over the next 48 hours. A yellow alert has been issued for these regions, warning of light rain and increased cold after drizzles on Saturday and Sunday. Districts including Patna, Gaya, Nalanda, and Bhagalpur are likely to experience cloudy weather and occasional rainfall.
The weather change is attributed to western disturbances and cyclonic circulation, which are also expected to result in a slight rise in night temperatures despite cooler daytime conditions. Farmers have been advised to secure harvested crops to prevent damage from moisture and rain.
The current minimum temperature across most districts ranges from 9 to 16 degrees Celsius. Meteorologists have noted that these temperatures are not classified as severe cold, which is typically observed when the minimum drops to 6 to 8 degrees Celsius or lower. Residents are advised to stay cautious as the weather conditions evolve.
