Patna: Water Resources Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary, in a meeting held at Irrigation Bhawan on Saturday, reviewed the progress and expenditure of all major flood protection and irrigation schemes being implemented by the Water Resources Department in Bihar. These schemes, each costing over Rs 50 crore, are crucial for enhancing flood safety and irrigation facilities across the state. During the meeting, he issued necessary guidelines to ensure the timely completion of these projects.
Chaudhary emphasized that the maximum utilization of available river water is one of the key priorities of Chief Minister Nitish Kumar. He instructed the department’s officers to ensure that the allocated budgets for flood protection and irrigation expansion schemes are used efficiently. Any hurdles in the timely implementation of these projects should be identified and resolved immediately, he added. The minister also directed action to be taken against contractors failing to meet the prescribed timelines.
The meeting was attended by Principal Secretary Santosh Kumar Mall, Additional Secretary Naveen, Chief Engineer of Flood Control Manoj Raman, Chief Engineer of Irrigation Creation Nand Kumar Jha, and Chief Engineer of Planning and Monitoring Sanjay Kumar Ojha. The minister stressed the importance of strict monitoring to ensure compliance with departmental guidelines.
