Commercial LPG Prices Cut for Second Consecutive Month Ahead of Budget Presentation

New Delhi: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is set to present the Union Budget for the financial year 2025-26 today. Ahead of the announcement, the government has provided some relief to LPG consumers by reducing the price of commercial gas cylinders.

Oil marketing companies have marginally reduced the price of a 19 kg LPG cylinder, commonly used by businesses and food vendors. In Delhi, the cylinder now costs Rs 1,797, down from Rs 1,804, a reduction of Rs 7. Similar price cuts have been implemented in other cities, with the cylinder now priced at Rs 1,907 in Kolkata, Rs 1,749.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 1,959.50 in Chennai. The reduction marks the second consecutive month of price cuts for commercial cylinders.

However, there has been no change in the price of the 14.2 kg domestic LPG cylinder used in households. The last revision for household cylinders was on August 1. Currently, the domestic LPG cylinder is priced at Rs 803 in Delhi, Rs 829 in Kolkata, Rs 802.50 in Mumbai, and Rs 818.50 in Chennai. Beneficiaries of the Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana continue to receive a subsidy of Rs 300 per cylinder.

The move follows a pattern of fluctuating LPG prices, with a price cut for commercial cylinders on January 1, after a price hike on December 1. Last year, on the day of the budget, the price of commercial LPG cylinders was increased by Rs 14.
