Condolences Pour in from Bihar Leaders Following Manmohan Singh's Passing

Patna: The political community in Bihar has expressed profound grief following the death of former Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh, who passed away at the age of 92 at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in New Delhi.

Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar offered his condolences, calling Singh a visionary leader whose contributions to India’s economic growth will be remembered for generations. “Dr. Manmohan Singh was a man of principles and intellect. His leadership helped steer India through crucial economic reforms, and his legacy will continue to inspire future generations. We have lost a great leader, and the nation has lost a guiding light in the field of economics and governance,” Nitish said in a statement.

RJD National President Lalu Prasad, former Chief Minister Rabri Devi, Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Prasad Yadav, and other RJD leaders conveyed their condolences, highlighting Singh’s dedication, integrity, and pivotal role in India’s economic transformation.

Jitan Ram Manjhi expressed his shock, stating, “His demise is a great loss for the country. The country has lost a great economist and a skilled leader. His thinking, vision, and his unprecedented contribution to the historic economic reforms will always be remembered.”

State Congress President Dr. Akhilesh Prasad Singh, along with other party leaders, also mourned the loss, emphasizing Singh’s significant contributions to the nation.

Dr. Manmohan Singh, born on September 26, 1932, in Gah, West Punjab (now in Pakistan), was a distinguished economist and politician. He served as India’s 13th Prime Minister from 2004 to 2014, becoming the first Sikh to hold the office. Prior to his tenure as Prime Minister, Singh was the Finance Minister from 1991 to 1996, during which he implemented key economic reforms that liberalized India’s economy.

Singh’s political career also included roles as the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India and the Chairman of the Planning Commission. He was a Member of the Rajya Sabha from 1991 to 2019, representing Assam, and from 2019 to 2024, representing Rajasthan.

His passing marks the end of an era in India’s political and economic history, with leaders across the nation reflecting on his legacy.
