Patna: The Congress party is set to launch its ‘Palayan Roko, Naukari Do Yatra (Stop Migration, Give Jobs Yatra)’ on Sunday, spearheaded by the Youth Congress and the National Students’ Union of India (NSUI). The yatra will commence from Bhitiharwa Gandhi Ashram in West Champaran, a historic site linked to Mahatma Gandhi’s first satyagraha in India. The initiative was announced earlier by NSUI in-charge Kanhaiya Kumar.
Bihar Congress in-charge Krishna Allavaru will also participate in the yatra, travelling through various districts before concluding the journey in Patna. The yatra is being viewed as an informal launch of Congress’s election campaign ahead of the Bihar assembly polls.
This initiative follows the high-profile padyatra of former Congress president Rahul Gandhi during the Lok Sabha elections, which had stirred the political landscape in the state. Party insiders suggest that the yatra aims to mobilise support and highlight key issues such as unemployment and migration ahead of the assembly elections.
Meanwhile, the Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee has released a schedule detailing Krishna Allavaru’s itinerary. He will travel from Patna to Motihari via Hajipur and Muzaffarpur, where he will visit the residence of the East Champaran District Congress president. Following this, he will reach Bhitiharwa Ashram in Bettiah to formally join the yatra.
