CPI(ML) Calls for ‘Historic’ March in Patna on March 2, Slams BJP Over US Deportation Row

CPI(ML) Calls for ‘Historic’ March in Patna on March 2

Patna: CPI(ML) General Secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya has announced a massive rally at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan on March 2, calling it a “decisive step” for Bihar’s future. Speaking at a press conference on Friday after completing a 100 km padyatra in Seemanchal, Bhattacharya said the gathering would bring real issues to the forefront and mobilise forces for change in the state.

Sharpening his attack on the BJP, he accused Prime Minister Narendra Modi of “mortgaging” India’s independence and self-respect to the United States. Referring to the recent deportation of 104 Indians from the US, Bhattacharya alleged that they were treated like criminals and forced to endure a 40-hour journey with their hands and feet tied, limited to a single toilet. “Instead of standing up for its citizens, the Indian government is justifying this humiliation,” he said, contrasting it with Colombia’s refusal to allow US military aircraft to land for deportation.

Reflecting on his padyatra in Seemanchal, Bhattacharya highlighted growing poverty, migration, and forced land acquisitions without compensation. “Debt is crushing people’s lives, and bulldozers are razing homes. This situation cannot be changed by just replacing the government—systemic transformation is needed,” he asserted.
