Danapur Student Dies by Suicide After Alleged Dispute With Girlfriend

A 19-year-old student in Danapur died by suicide hours after returning from a wedding, with a relationship dispute suspected to have played a role.

Patna: A 19-year-old student in Bihar died by suicide early Thursday morning at his residence in Mainpura Tarachak under the Danapur police station area, shortly after attending a wedding procession. The deceased has been identified as Piyush Raj alias Rocky, son of Sanjay Kumar.

According to police, Piyush returned home around 4 am with a friend. At 5 am, his younger brother Sahil discovered him hanging from a ceiling fan in his upstairs room. Although the family immediately attempted to rescue him, he had already passed away by the time they brought him down.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Piyush had been in a relationship and was facing emotional distress due to a recent argument with his girlfriend. Family members and neighbours reported that tensions had been building over the past few days.

Despite these struggles, ward councillor Sunil Kumar stated that Piyush appeared cheerful at the wedding in Patna City the previous evening, where he was seen dancing and interacting with friends.

Sub-Inspector Ashish Kumar Chaudhary confirmed that the body has been sent to Danapur Sub-Divisional Hospital for post-mortem. Police are continuing their inquiry to understand the full circumstances of the incident.
