Darbhanga: The Khelo India Youth Games 2025 Torch Glory Journey reached Darbhanga on Thursday as part of a statewide awareness campaign celebrating Bihar’s debut as host of the prestigious national sports event.
The ceremonial torch was handed over to District Magistrate Rajeev Raushan by Additional Collector Rakesh Kumar and District Sports Officer Parimal, symbolically flagging off promotional activities in the region.
Welcoming the delegation from Patna, the district administration expressed strong support for the initiative. “This awareness campaign will help bring forward local sporting talent. Both the central and state governments are committed to encouraging sports and athletes,” Raushan said.
A presentation detailing the background and objectives of the Games was held at Nehru Stadium Polo Ground, where more than 500 athletes and officials from various sporting associations gathered. The slogan “Khel ke Rang Bihar ke Sang” echoed across the grounds as participants pledged to integrate sports into their daily lives.
District Sports Officer Parimal described the event as a moment of pride for Bihar, adding that the promotional vehicle—equipped with LED screens and audio-visual content—will continue its journey through various parts of the municipal area before departing for Saharsa on Friday morning.
The Torch Glory Journey, which commenced on April 15, will travel across all 38 districts of Bihar, culminating in Patna on May 2. Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to inaugurate the Khelo India Youth Games 2025 at the Pataliputra Sports Complex on May 4 by lighting the ceremonial torch.
Key contributors to the day’s successful event included representatives from the District Kabaddi, Kho-Kho, Volleyball, Wushu, and Athletics Associations, as well as senior athletes and sports office staff.
